You don't have to be a musician to come and enjoy an evening of fantastic live music, the more folks come out in support the better! There's no ticket price or entry fee, just our koha bucket - give as exuberantly as you are able to support the scene!

If you are ready to set sail on the songwriters stage - or if you're in need of a deadline to spark the fire - our entry form is at the bottom of the page. 

Nau mai, haere mai ki te kāhui kaitito waiata! Songwriters is a supportive place for creators of original music to come out of the woodwork and perform their labours of love in a relaxed environment to a friendly audience. We welcome all types and genres of music, creators of all ages and stages. Proudly supported by Vibrant NZ, The Speight's Alehouse Timaru, and a small team of hard working volunteers, this unfunded venture is out to Make Original Music Great Again! 

We do ask that you help us out by doing the following: 

 

  • Play your own original music

  • Keep to a 10 min slot. 

  • Arriving early if you are performing.

  • Stay and support the other acts.

  • Be organised for a quick set up on stage.

  • Avoid last minute changes.

  • Be nice to our crew & spread the word!
