ABOUT US

Vibrant Lighting is a small but surprising production company from a little NZ town, taking experience from working all around the world, and using it create high quality events in the South Island.

Owned by two comparatively young people in their 30’s, and operating out of Timaru, Tristan and Sarah have approximately 30 years experience in the events/entertainment industry between them.

Tristan King

Tristan trained as a heavy fabrication engineer in Timaru before starting Vibrant Lighting in 2000. He has in-depth understanding of the local market, and an excellent relationship with a substantial number of repeat customers. Extremely client focused, and after 16 years developing the company, he is still keen to expand Vibrant's skill sets, and his own. Recently Vibrant has expanded to include services such as scenic construction, which put his engineering skills to good use; and live streaming of events which have allowed him to really get to grips with some of the latest technology in this area. He has a solid rigging background, holding an Australian rigging ticket; and is also a Pyrotechnician with a NZ license, able to choreograph fireworks shows to music. Tristan is always looking to take on a challenge!

Sarah Edwards

Sarah joined Vibrant in 2014 after moving to NZ from Scotland. She has worked internationally as a lighting designer, production electrician, and production manager in many different aspects of the industry, and has a strong design background. From UK music festivals, theatre tours, Commonwealth Games, to lighting design consultancy for a new conference centre building in Edinburgh and international circus tours with Circa and Strut & Fret's 'Cantina'. Sarah has also been Head of Lights at the Garden of Unearthly Delights, during Adelaide's Fringe Festival, for the past 9 years. Sarah brings Vectorworks drafting skills to Vibrant enabling lighting and set plans to be visualised and checked prior to installation. She also has advanced rigging skills (especially circus rigging), and plenty of temporary site electrics knowledge. By joining Vibrant she has added a formidable array of skills and experience to the Vibrant inventory.

Nic Niles

Nic has been working for Vibrant since 2010. Nic is a jack of all trades, lighting operator, set builder and camera operator as well as an apprentice builder. He gets it right first time, and always gets the job done.

Seymour Washbourn

Seymour is an AV and computer specialist with an engineering background. Another jack of all trades, from stage building to powerpoint, Seymour has been a regular at Vibrant since 2011.
